I took an Alienware 14" laptop, model number P18G, Reg Type Number P18G001, over from someone else in America. After experiencing some overheating and other problems with it, I went to Dell Chat Support and was told the model is similar to the M14x. But is this true? I am now in China and am able to take the computer to a service center supported by Dell. From experience in China, I know that the more information I can give about the computer, its problems and the solutions suggested on a forum such as this, the better the chance that the computer will get fixed.

According to some resellers in the UK you can google, the P18G is indeed the M14x. Whether mine is a R1 or R2, I have no idea. How do I establish this?

With the full specs we could determine which one it is.
