Have any of you tried to use a Game Mode in AlienAdrenaline?

I tried it for both Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2. The games start up fine but the AlienFX associated with the modes for each game change to what I chose and revert back to the Active Theme colors right before the game starts.

Any thoughts/suggestions out there? I'd love to use the Adrenaline Game Modes but the lighting changing and then changing back is annoying the hell out of me! I can't get the lighting to stay at what they should be in the Game Mode!

    Thanks in advance! :)

I believe its because of the launchers...

In my digging, even though you launch Diablo III.exe or Diablo III Launcher.exe, it really brings you to another launcher (mine is c:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Client\Blizzard Launcher.1682\Blizzard Launcher.exe - This is a hidden directory, but its there.

I've tried running the Blizzzard Launcher directly, and it does not work standalone, you must use the diablo launchers.

I'm assuming the same thing for Starcraft II, which follows just about the same procedure. (didnt bother to check) WOW may have the same problem, but dont have that so cant check.

So, the issue is that Alien Adrenaline will monitor the executable you define in the shortcut setup, and then turn the mode off when it detects it is no longer running, which in this case is just about immediately. You may start off running Diablo III.exe but you get moved over to the blizzard launcher immediately and thats what causes your colors to change back to default. I'm not sure that its even easily fixable, probably requires some custom coding on Alienware's part to update Alien Adrenaline to recognize these blizzard launchers, and good luck getting Blizzard in changing their launcher structure just to support something like this.

Unfortunately, it breaks the entire Alien Adrenaline chain, not just the AlienFX portion, so if you're launching custom apps along with the game such as teamspeak, I'm assume that doesnt work either.

Sorry I dont have a good answer for you!

Makes 100% sense. Thanks for taking the time to explain that! I hadn't realized that the launcher and the executable were different but that has to be it.

    +1 rep. Thanks again!

    Hi,

There is a solution to this problem. I was testing this on my M14x R1, and found the same thing as described above.

The solution is to create a profile that uses any application as the game launch .exe e.g. gpu-z.exe. Then modify your profile to your preference, then click "Add addition app" and browse the game you want e.g. Starcraft 2 / Diablo 3.

This is becasue the profile will launch Starcraft 2 first and the Blizzard Launcher before moving onto the "game launcher" which, in my case was gpu-z (as I monitor my GPU and CPU temps whilst playing games).

Hope this helps, worked fine for me.

If you make an game theme you should launch the game trough the shortcut. They usally get saved some where in your files. Then it should work. Game mode - game name :) I hope it helps
