Alan Wake just came out on PC and I was wondering one thing.

As one of PC exclusive features, we also have this one: "Multithreaded engine that takes advantage of quad core CPUs."

Does that mean that in this game enabling turbo boost will actually improve the overall experience?

I'm asking this because I have it off all the time, and play a lot (newest games), and my M14X runs cool, nice and smooth without a single problem.

Also since it's a game that makes a massive use of shadows, how is our M14X behaving, since shadows is the GT555M weak spot?

    Did anybody tried it yet?

To the best of my knowledge, it's almost the opposite of what you're expecting. The applications that make more use of multiple cores will see less benefit from turbo and those that only use a single core will see more benefit.

The turbo mode on Intel CPUs essentially takes unused power and allocates it to whichever cores are in use. So if only one core is under any load, it will be able to boost the power going to that core and run it at a faster clock rate.

No, no, no, Do not use Turbo Boost, it is not function as what you think, Turbo Boost is for getting thing done faster which what exactly it do is temporary OC the CPU to boost thing which also mean the heat will increase this is the major disadvantage for all hardware when it is overclock.

So performance wise it will not worth it, in fact I turn it off and the result is even better, turning the Turbo Boost off save me from overheated. Btw "Multithreaded engine that takes advantage of quad core CPUs." also have nothing to do with the Turbo Boost though, all it said was the game will take the advantage of the multi-threaded CPU unlike some other games.

Read this article if you want to learn the full function of it: Intel Turbo Boost
