Anyone else notice any weird noises coming from their AW14. Mine appears to be the fans/cooling system. Under light load (chrome open) every 15-30 seconds I hear revving up "whooshing" sound, than it idles down to where you can hear the HDD being accessed. Even the 750/64ssd is quite loud but subtle compared to the fan noise. I'm assuming its the HD being accessed, but after the fans rev down, it almost sounds like bursts of noise (like "shoosh shoosh") nothing mechanical sounding, but just short bursts of air or something.

My temps are normal so just curious if these noises are normal if others are experiencing the same thing. It's strange as my AW17 doesn't make noises like this at all and runs near quiet except when under heavy gpu load.

I'm ok with the noise if this is just the normal cooling of the system, but just wanted to check if others hear it. Seems strange to have the fan on as much as it is under almost 0% load (task manager 0-2% CPU usage)

This happens both in switching gfx and in dGPU mode.

I think what you hear (because I hear that noise too) its the Bluray (in my case) unit, because it makes a sound from while to while like it ejects a CD (but doesnt eject anything), That happen when you open sometimes the media player player, and when you use media player classic and open the file menu

No its not the optical drive, I know exactly what you are talking about however its not that noise. I know that noise, when you open itunes or wake from sleep you get that 2 second whine coming from the drive..

This is different, this is constant. It's almost like a small amount of air movement, than the fans kick in, than idle down, but the small "hissing" noise is always there.

To my best judgement, I'm thinking its just part of the AW14s cooling process which I am 100% impressed in how cool this thing stays under some heavy heavy load.

Maybe someone can shed some more light on it.

Well, I have to say that the cooling system do a great job, and in fact you can hear it sometimes when it starts, only under heavy proccess its very noticeable, otherwise, it just like a very tiny noise from time to time :p

My temps are showing high again. 70C on the CPU with 0.4% CPU Usage and 63 GPU with no games running just a browser open with 2 tabs. This is taken from SpeedFan btw.

Even stranger things happened just now I started up BlackOps2 to check in game temps and CPU rose to 96C and GPU to 87C and my 14 powered itself off. This was less than 5 minutes of gameplay and during that time it was throttling badly, fps dropping hard. I have it on an U3 cooler (3 fans at full speed) and the internal fans of the AW didn't even kick in(could not hear them spinning)

Once the thing rebooted, the fans are now working, it is still running very hot however. The ONLY thing that has changed since my temps and gaming were normal was that NVIDIA released a new R331.58 Game Ready Driver which I updated to.

I just tried reinstalling the drivers with no change so I'm in the process of going back to 327.23 since that was the last time my system ran normal.

Anyone else having troubles with 331?

Before I went back to 327 I did a clean install (removed old 331 drivers) and installed new and temps are back to somewhat normal. No more freezing or throttling in games. (CPU at 69C and GPU at 50C in Game)

This wasn't the case with a simple re-install. I will continue testing.

Games are working now without throttling after the driver reinstall but my machine is still sitting at high 50s (56-60C CPU) and (47-50C GPU) with 0% load. I got the temps from SpeedFan and also HWMonitor. If I plug in my U3 Cooler it brings the CPU down to 52-55C.

In game jumping from 70-75C CPU and 60-65C GPU, not sure what else to try. This seems pretty damn hot

Sorry for all the posts, downgraded to 327 drivers and everything is normal now. Way better performance in games, much smoother and cooling is down 5-10 degrees. Anyone else getting this with 331?
