So i've been having a problem with my new AW14. I have a 750GB USB 3.0 external drive that I am trying to use to load my Steam games. The drive is read by my desktop and writes with no problem, but when I connect it to the AW14 it doesn't see it in 1 port (the front most left hand port), sees it but doesn't initialize in another (the right hand port) and works in the rear most port on the left side, but disconnects half way through my transfer. All other USB drives/media I use work with no problem. I initially thought it was the drive itself, so I pulled the internal 750 and replaced it with the one in the enclosure to rule it out. But honestly since the drive/enclosure works in every other machine I tested it on (including a Mac) I can't imagine it's the cause of the problem. Has anyone else experienced issues like this? Any idea what I can try to get it to function?

You said "All other USB drives/media I use work with no problem." Are those other drives also USB 3.0?

Both. I've tried USB 3.0 flash drives and USB 2.0 drive enclosures. They all have worked flawlessly.

Did you try downloading the driver from Intel and re-installing it (the USB 3 driver is specific to the C220 series 8 chipset)? I don't know it will help but it's worth a try.

I have not tried that yet. I'll download the drivers from Intel once the Win 8.1 update is finished.

Try this. We posted it some time ago on our website and I believe there is also a thread about it. It will hopefully fix the issue.

I resolved the issue by using a Y cable to provide more power to the enclosure. It's odd though since the other machines I have tried this enclosure with do not require the Y cable. Anyway, thanks everyone for your assistance in troubleshooting my issue.
