I've had this BSOD error three times in the past two days.

Does anyone else get it or know why I'm getting it?

Only thing that's new is the 130w charger

Is that a stock power supply? I thought the stocker was 150w

Stock is 150w, but 130w (at work) keeps it at whatever percentage it's on

    Model: PA-5M10
    Input: 100-240 V - 50/60Hz
    Output: 19.5V 7.7A Max
    Output Power: 150W.

I guess that answers my question about 130w chargers :p

What kind of BSOD did u get? Having to use the 130W charger doesnt proof that the problem is because of it, it can be other thing like new drivers, symptom of the hard drive failure.

Oh I know try running Dell Diagnostic by Restarting your laptop and then press F12 repeatedly at the very beginning when your laptop star, then the Diagnostic usually is number 4) select it and hit enter, then wait until it begin diagnose usually take 2-10 mins.

After that report as error to Dell. Because only them know what that error mean. But if the test goes without error then it is not the hardware, it might be cause by software or that 130W charger, if so try using the 150W one because it is M14'x default charger.

But btw why do you use a 130W charger?

Because I don't want to lug the 150w one to work each day

If it's not drawing 150w I don't see why it would cause a problem

The easiest way to diagnose that is to note whether the BSOD happens ONLY when its plugged into the 130 or all the time (on battery and on 150).

That should answer your question right there.

I got the same BSOD last night - and it probably isn't a co-incidence that I was not running on the stock 150W PSU either. I think I was using a Dell 65W psu at the time, or it could have been the 100W Kensington that I am using now.
    So far no other BSOD.
(I guess this thread makes it less likely to be due to the scareware pc organiser pro and other junk installed by mistake by my son - probably when he downloaded videoLAN from the wrong site... I got rid of that by going back to the last restore point)

So let me see if I understand what's going on in this thread. People are using whatever laptop power supply they have laying around and are surprised that their laptops are blue screening etc.?? Really? I guess using the power supply that was specifically made for the M14X is to much like the right thing to do...

For whatever you guys using non default power supply - I think you have your own reasons. I have a fix for you. EC turbo control menu in unlocked 05 Bios has a feature where you can select power brick used currently with your system going from 65-75-90W (only these 3 positions are selectable). I have not tried this so beware.

Yeah, and if possible use the M14x's power brick and see if it still giving you BSOD. Because the only BSOD I got with my M14x is due to the HDD failure problems.
