Ok, so I was told that there are some guru's here that find some near impossible offers for some Alienware computers.

This is what I've been looking at.

Drawback is that Mail-in-rebate ends on the 31st. I'm looking for an alienware laptop that is better or at the very least comparable in performance. Can you find one for the same price that uses the 6970? Can you do it???

Well, they already came out with the G53SX with the gtx560m and i7 second gen. sandy bridge, so I don't know why you would buy that one now, unless your strapped for cash... You can mod a m17x r3, to be better than that Asus all though its going to cost you more.

That Asus is more like a 17" too so if your looking for someting powerful that you're not going to move around, than good choice.

I would rather save up extra $$$ and get a m17x r3 though, that's me, the Alienware seems like better build quality and you can mod any hardware on it you would like. Better resale value too IMO

great deal! I dont think u can find Alienware at same price/spec. You will have to pay some premium for the brand.
of wait and hope for a kickass promotion.

why not buy this one? the deal is great and if you dont care much about 14inch, then this is solid no?

    One ugly mother...

Get the M17x R3 with FHD screen and 6990m. It cost a little more but it will destroy the ASUS.

Call a rep. for some discount or wait for the discounts and call for even more discount.

    Yeah I agree.

I was about to buy the ASUS g53SX before my m14x, but I just didn't like the huge black stealth fighter look. And all the reviews on youtube described it as plasticy and cheap, which is one of my biggest pet peeves.

And the size was a turnoff, but overall, the G53SX is a killer machine for that 1200$-1400$ price range, no doubt.

But like the other guy said , I would rather save up an get an Alienware, since to me, they are the epitome of high performance computers.

I'm trying to keep it in the same price range. I can always spend more $ and get a better computer. That's not a challenge.

The Challenge with this is to find an Alienware laptop with similar or superior specs for the same amount of $.

    Hmm I see.

That asus is going to be hard to beat then.

I would still spend the extra 100-200$ and get the new SX version though, they go for like 1200$ for the XR1 and the A1 is like 1499$ and you could probably even find a deal one ebay.

Definitely I would not spend/waste $$$ on the older i7 and last gen. gtx460, especially with how fast COMPUTER components go outdated, definitely get something up-to-date... you will have a better resale value too...

..That ASUS will be hard to put.....I mean, the base model m14x is going to be around the same price range somewhat, but that Asus might be a better deal.

If you order through the telephone and get a good rep, you can get a good deal, I can recommend you the rep I used, he gave me a 3year warrant which cost like 299$ extra and knocked off $$$$.

Yeah, PM me his name and extension if you please. The GTX560 on the SX versions is gimped down from 192 bit to 128 so the GTX 460 is a lot closer in performance than you would normally expect. At least that is what I've been able to glean here in the forums. The G-series also has issues that will not allow you to upgrade the GPU in the future. The main reason I'm looking for an alternative.

    Thanks all,

NOBODY could find a deal as good as this one

    Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G53SW-XN1 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M

Soo.....I bought it, should be in in a couple days. I originally wanted an Alienware but the extra money for a funny Alien on the cover and a cool nameplate could not justify the extra that I'd pay for an equivalent computer. I didn't look too hard at the more expensive models so hopefully in the higher $ range (~1800+) they compete better pricewise.

After reading all the Customer Reviews of the ASUS G53SW-XN1 I would not have bought one. They all except for 1 state bulky, heavy, slow boot time, no driver support. Bad customer support, the list go's on and on. I would of settle for a m14x for like 940.00 on the out let site with coupon. Oh I did silly me.

Uh...no....GT 555 at best.....has 2410 vs 2630......4 GB ram vs 6...not too bad but no, to get something similar I'd have to pay $200-$300 more....at least.

    I agree to disagree
