anyone notice better battery life when setting the refresh rate to 40hz with vsync on! I did! measured my machine using killawatt and noticed a 22watt drop!

this spared an extra 30 mins without sacrificing the gaming quality except the game will work on 40 frame instead! which can also lead to something else, anyone knows an application that limits the frame rate to the value we want? :)

what game are you looking to do this on? In Warcraft this functionality is built in.

For Warcraft: inside of Options ---> Advanced there is a place to modify Foreground FPS and background FPS.

Sadly most games don't have a FPS CAP. And as far as I know, there's no third-party app that does this.

But you can always do the manual fps cap, in the Intel HD Graphic Property. Under 'Display' > 'General Setting' > 'Refresh Rate' > '60Hz' to '40Hz (If your display is already on 40Hz, then you're good to go.

Which menu are you trying to adjust to 40hz? I can change to 40hz on my Intel settings and in game. I did mine separately and it worked fine.

With just playing iTunes all day, WiFi on, and 40hz, I can get about 6-7 hours of battery life.

This is with AFX off (Trackpad on) Core i5, 6GB RAM, Plextor SATAIII 256SSD. Brightness on 3rd bar. Windows Aero on, with power setting on balanced.

That make sense then. Apparently the 768 screen doesn't support 40hz. Sorry.
