Alright, I posted a simiar topic in the buying a new notebook forum but as I get closer to buying the m14x, I want to get more specific. So how would a 1gb GDDR3 GTX260M compare to the 3gb 555M? (It's my preference, please no comments on 1.5gb vs 3gb)

My laptop also has a 2.5ghz C2D P8700 and I will get the 2ghz i7 if you want to help me get more specific on the performance difference :p

EDIT: Also, I dont mean to sound like im reposting and hawk helped me out a bit but I was wondering if someone else might have more specific benchmarks with people getting their m14xs now. Other than that, everyone just told me to get a sager ~_~

CPU-wise the i7 Sandy Bridge kicks any C2D butt. So in the CPU department it is totally a given.

GPU-wise, the 555M is really on par with the 260M. It is slightly better but not by much. Most games only see 2-3 more FPS with the 555M over the 260M. You can thank nVidia for still sticking the 555M with GDDR3...

Benchmarks are already posted on Notebookcheck:

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-555M.41933.0.html <-- 555M

PS: Also note that the same 555M used in the m14x is also milked by Dell in the XPS 17-inch model and is not upgradable to future cards.

That will be great. Try to find some user benchmark scores from the Asus archives on the G51 if you can too as a comparison. However, I believe both are still relatively on par to each other.
