hello, i searched around, and can't find any similar topics.
the acer download page only provided an exe file works on DOS or Windows, but this method won't work on a bios update failed laptop, now i want to try the Fn+ESC bios recovery, but can't use the exe file. thanks

Edit:thanks Michael, my laptop works again!

here's how i did it, I tried extracted the DOS version first, didn't work, and didn't try windows version, gave up, but today, i got the extracted bios file ZR7x64EC.fd from the windows version, renamed to ZR7X64.fd and put to a thumbdrive, hold Fn and ESC, then turn on laptop, when the laptop fan started to spin, then released holding Fn and ESC, the fan runs at full speed for few second then goes to low speed, when the fan goes to low speed, power light goes out, then about 30 seconds, laptop self restarted, it works now.

Have you already tried to extract something useful from the .exe with 7-zip or similar packers?

I think acer put update software and firmware into an exe container, 7-zip can't extract them

Find program called Universal Extractor, it should extract rom from exe files.

No problem here with 7-zip extracting the Windows version of the Bios file.
