Yup - in the power management setting...
Go to Control Panel and Power Options. Under Advanced tab, there's an options for "When I close the lid of my portable computer"...switch that to "Do nothing".

So in theory, with something like this, I can start playing a movie, close the lid, and hook it up to my tv and watch the movie while the lid is being closed?

The only thing to watch is that the notebook doesn't heat up the monitor too much, to much heat could damage the display.

Most laptops when you hook them up to the TV you can just hit the Fn key+ I think it is F8 or something to switch between LCD/TV. When you want the pic back on the laptop you just hit it again. :)

    Hope this helps.
