I've had it for about 5 months now and I enjoy using it now as much as the first day I got it. There's been some changes the last while since I've owned it. First I got around to installing XP Pro on it instead of using home from the Acer discs (that meant redoing the HD into one partition). That went without issues, I loaded in all the drivers from the Acer discs though and it works great. I did use the Omega drivers for the video card (ATI 9700 Radeon). My ram was at 768mb and I got another 512mb coming from the US so the other 256mb will be up for sale on ebay when the 512 arrives so I'll have 1G of ram in it.

I took care of the sound issue with laptops, I picked up a Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS notebook PCM card and use it whenever possible, WOW does it sound great now through the headphones or through my 4.1 surround sound setup at home.

Whenever possible I use the laptop now with a laptop stand, it's fairly portable and gives me better typing posture by elevating the laptop towards me. The extra space around the fan helps it run cooler too. There is a big difference in CPU temps when using the stand vs. not using it, it works a lot better using the stand.

Finally I recommended the same model of laptop to a friend, she's using a 1681LCi that I picked up for her and I've spent the last few weeks getting it up and running at her house. She's using it wirelessly too at home with a B router. She's new to this sort of thing so you could say I'm the tech guy if she runs into a snag. Best thing is that if down the road she doesn't need or want the laptop I get first dibs on it and she's even mentioned that I probably could have it for free (and she's seriously too about that).
