I just bought my first Acer laptop (5530G) and while I am fairly pleased with it I find the sound level of the speakers so low I am wondering if it is faulty. On headphones and external speakers it's OK but without these the maximum sound is probably the lowest I have ever heard on any laptop, about 2/3 of other models I have had. It boasts dolby home threatre, surround sound and even a woofer in the base (appears to do nothing) so I am surprised the sound level is so poor. Everything is set right to max, are all acers like this or might this have a speaker fault? -Brian Bangkok

yes it's all the way up at the side, somethings sound louder than others, DVD's cannot really be heard without external speakers or headphones. In Thailand they give you a set of headphones for free but they are impossible to plug into the laptop-or anything else you are likely to own!

I have the 5930g with dolby speakers and the mini woofers. I've never heard such "high" and clear sound from a lappie before, so there must be some settings your using thats wrong. Try Media Player Classic, it can boost the sound too.
