    Hi everyone

My battery wear level is coming upto around 60% and I only get around 40 mins of battery life when running at low cpu. My question is comes in pairs.

1 - Is it worth me buying a battery off ebay or similar outlet considering that batteries wear naturally and all the outlet has done is replace the cells inside? what level of wear can I expect from these outlets?

2 - Has anyone managed to open a battery and replace the cells for themselves and if so, how did you manage to open the casing and where did you get the cells from?

I live in the UK so any outlet in uk or willing to deliver to uk will be nice

    Regards

    Ash

I've seen that video already but I wanted to know if the case for the acer battery can be opened. I tried opening it today but was afraid I might break the casing. Also do you know where I might be able to acquire the cells from?

open a battery on a travelmate 230 4years old and all i did was peel of the sticker with all the writing on it and there where all the cells.
i went to maplins and got some new cells its a tight fit and they worked ok.
make drawings of each stage when you take it to bits and be careful with the thermal switch they can be delicate. but it worked and it cost half the price of a new batt as the machine is so old. :)

If these batteries are Lithium Ion, then be very, very careful. The are volatile batteries, and its very risky to be replacing cells. I would recommend just buying a new battery, rather than risk the possibility of a fire of explosion.

The wear level on my 8204 battery is now 71%. Have to get one soon. Replacements are available aftermarket now for a reasonable price, but the only ones i have found have a lower amp hour rating than the original. For this reason i will spend a little more $ and buy a battery from ACer.

Battery places here won't rebuild LIon batteries for reasons quoted above. The only thing to do is buy a new one.

the lion batteries are ok to change. theres a couple of things to remember.

    NO water.
make sure the change is like for like.
and before you start keep notes. :)
PS any doubts don't do it.
