I bought an aspire 2023 two months ago.

I had to send it back because of a failed screen. Either right after that or after I installed windows service pack 2 it has been behaving strangely.

It sometimes doesn't shut down properly. It goes to the blue shutdown screen and no further. It doesn't do anything when I shut the lid, and I have checked the options for this and they are fine. It can't go into hibernation either.

It has also become a lot slower than it was before. When it plays sound a lot of it is fuzzed, this counts for winamp 5.06 and for normal windows sounds as well. This too is a new problem

do i have to send it back again to acer or might it be a software glitch? Has anyone else had problems with SP2?

any help would be most appreciated cheers

that's strange, I've heard that the Acer Ferrari 3400 also has issues when XP Service Pack 2 is installed. Check out the OS section in the Ferrari 3400 review

Does the 2023 have a 64-bit processor? Sorry, I just don't know off the top of my head, but if it does that could be the conflict.

nope i don't think it is anything to do with that. There is an uninstall feature on SP2, does it work or will it cause windows to have a heart attack?

Anyone else had sound problems with this laptop?

I don't think it's specific to any system. SP2 just has problems on notebooks. I've read a lot of posts regarding users installing SP2 and things not working the way it should. You can try the un-install or even a fresh reload. A full reload will guarantee that the system is working 100% again. Just make sure you backup all your files before you go this route.
