im not sure, but is a SATA controller driver a generic thing for windows xp?

after reading that the seagate momentus (80gig 5400) apparently doesnt need a driver, but that it does require a sata-controller driver?

    ????

if you have windows xp service pack two you shouldn't need a driver for it as some generic drivers are included (unlike before when you needed a floppy disk).
Its only the mainboard that requires the driver not the hard drive :)
