    merom upgrade for core duo?

    Does anyone know if the new merom chip will fit in the current core duo socket? Some guy on in the apple forum said that they have put a merom chip in a mac mini that originally came with a core duo. If this is true, those of us with 5672 core duo laptops will have an excellent upgrade path...

    Actually, I just answered my own question by poking around in the ASUS forum. We will indeed be able to drop a merom processor in our core duo machines when they become available. Cool...

    could we see a link to the proof you found? from what I understand while they are socket compatiable you will need a bios update which isnt garunteed.

    why bother? the chipset is still 32 bits. You like spending $$$$$ for 1% performance increases?

    Well i have enough money kicking around to spare on a computer part anytime so why not do it... take advantage of an opportunity, you know... :)
