I recently purchased a 7740g-6969. There is no information on Acers site for this machine, like it does not even exist. I would like to find out if I can add in the on board bluetooth and if so, where would I get it from.
I also have a DIR625 Dlink wireless router, that is 802.11n. The notebook is also 802.11n, but the best I can get on the connnection is 802.11g. Even with the router 2 feet away from the notebook. Is there some trick to enabling 802.11n?

Maybe Acer hasn't updated their website yet with that configuration and specific model but the 7740 model has a lot of configurations opportunities. You would probably need a dissasemble guide to add the bluetooth directly onto the motherboard and from what I know there is not a "public one" or leaked one. I'm using just a nano bluetooth connected with the usb port and that works fine. However unfortunately the USBPORT driver is badly written and also the ACPI drivers with high dpc latency problems, dont know if you could come around that problem with connecting a bluetooth device directly on the mobo... Best probably is to wait for a update form the slow acer guys.

You should check the Dlink router settings that it enables N-draft technique to be used, it's not given to be used as default.

I was trying to find the service manual, seems like there are a few sites selling it for $10, not sure if it's legit. Anyone know if you can fit a 2nd HD in these? Is the optical drive removable? It would be awesome to fit an extra battery or HD in that bay, even if its a mod.

I just bought the aspire 7740-6656 and recently ordered a bluetooth module from ebay. It appears that the whole bottom cover has to be removed to access the location for the module. I'm looking for a step by step guide or web site that may have instructions. Thanks for any help

Any one had any luck with installing the bluetooth adapter, for $20 I'd like to do it, but I've had the keyboard and the bottom cover off, and although the mounting bracket for the adapter is there I can't find anywhere to plug it into
