i have a acer aspireone. and i tried to turn it on the other day and i got a blue screen that said at the bottom "collecting data for crash dump... & initializing disk for crash dump..." what does that mean? then i waiting a little bit and a screen came up and it said " the last attempt to resume the system from its previous location failed. attemp to resume again?" then the options continue with system resume or delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu. what does the second option mean? and what should i do. i really need help asap!! thank you!

It means that you have a choice- either try to resume from hibernation one again (which will not work if it already failed once) or in essence boot it again- which means starting windows.
If you had any programs open (Word, browser etc.) you lose any unsaved data but that's all. So just choose the second option and start Windows again. -
Hi there,
Just to let you know 'Please' is spelt with only 2 e's!
Could you supply some more information about your notebook specification?
Have you had any problems with it recently or what were you doing when this happened?
What operating system areyou running? -
i dont know anything else about my laptop other than its an aspire one haha. and i havent had problems with it other than its been a little slow. but i dont really remember what i was doing. im pretty sure i was on facebook and i just closed my laptop and then i tried to turn it back on and i kept getting that blue screen message with a bunch of writing on it that i didnt understand. and i got the second message and i have no idea what that means.

Sounds exactly what 'downloads' discribed to you then, when you close the lid your computer goes into hibernation or standby mode and if it is either turned off/loses power then it has to dump the information that was held when it was sent into the power saving state.
Is your laptop running ok now? have you been able to start it back up or are you facing problems? If not then it is nothing to worry about.
EDIT: If you keep getting the blue dump screen try holding the power button for more than 5 seconds and then restarting the computer but be warned you will lose anything you were doing. -
okay it worked. thank you so much. i was just scared that i was going to lose everything on my laptop haha.
