Here is what is going on.
My acer 5672 has problems booting, and coming out of hibernate and standby.
What happens on boot is the colors of the login window get kinda messed up, then the screen goes black and i have to reboot. Sometimes his happens up to 7 times before it bootes correctly. Same problem happens when I try to come out of hibernate and standby.

I recently had a registry error, and I ended up reformatting the drive and reinstalling windows. I installed the omega driver for my x1400 instead of the acer driver, hoping that would fix the problem. It didn't, I have the same problem with a fresh copy of windows and a different driver. I then installed the latest driver from ATI's site, and I'm getting the same problem.

I'm starting to think this could be a hardware issue...

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm currently considering doing another reinstallation of windows..

    Thanks

if you have a windows xp or windows 200 disk boot to the recovery console and run a chkdsk -r . this will check for any possible bad sectors on your hard drive (which I assume is causing this problem).

If you don't know how to do that here is a guide - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/pcrepair/a/recoveryconsole.htm

it fully explains the recovery console and how to use it. Basically get to the C: in recovery console and type "chkdsk -r" <----- without the quotes If you get dirty or bad sectors it will repair them for you (instead of just find them). If anything shows up this may be a bad or failing hdd.

    Hope this helps! ^_^
