i am thinking of getting the acer 5602 intel centrino t2300 but there is a dell inspiron with a t2050 for the same price (999 CAN $) the main difference is that it comes with 2gb ram compared to the acers 1gb ram and 120gb 5400 rpm compared to acers 4200 rpm. I've heard alot about poor build quality of dells though, so I was wondering whether I should go for the lower spec acer or the dell

dell has a really good customer service. infact, its one of the best. if that helps. acer should be the better laptop however.

My take on acer as the laptop I bought is the first NEW computer I ever bought in my life, is that its good but its not constructed the best my acer has lots of flex poor screen protection and cheap plastic but It was cheap. on the other hand my gfs dell i9300 has had a lot more abuse but seems to be holding up more solid then the acer, but I paid a lot less for it and it is also alot less powerful. the way I look at it if your buying a cheapo laptop thats under a $1000 might as well go with a acer as it will be outdated in less then a year and all laptops manufactures always seem to have a 1 year warrenty so why not buy the cheap acer like i did!, and then buy another junker next year.

i would say acer, i know of alot people who have had problems with dells and i have an acer and it has done very very very well, even when i got a 1 inch crack in the plastic acer fixed it in a week include pickup and drop off at my door (after dealling with toshiba before this is amazing)
