i have an acer 5920 and just loved it till the hard drive died, i sent in to acer and they sent me a new one. I installed the new hd and the tech support said that just had to put the recovery dvds in and it would load right up. NOT! It takes the first dvd and brings up the e recovery management then ask for what language and tells me it will restart, when it restarts it just comes reruns that same dvd. I tried changing it to the second dvd and then it tells me its missing the operating system. Duh! Does anyone have any idea what to do other then calling and paying over 2 bucks a min with software support. Maybe its something im doing wrong idk but its making me crazy. any help please!!

If you lappy is still under warranty why did you not send the complete lappy in for them to repair instead of just the HDD?
Battling to understand what happened....Maybe your recovery DVD's are damaged....
Please elaborate
Cheers,

Oh yeah, and welcome to the Acer forum at NBR. -
when i called them (acer) they said to just send the hard drive in to be replaced, because after an hour of trying to reformat the old hard drive with no luck he (the tech guy) determined that it was in fact the hard drive and not the computer. The laptop is still under hardware warranty, the software warranty ran out a few months ago, and that's what their now saying is the problem. Which really gets me because its the hardware that caused the software to need to be reinstalled. I don't believe the recovery disc are damaged as they were kept in a secure place to insure they weren't damaged. Ugg I'm so frustrated! Thank you for any help.

call acer back... request a HDD w/ the factory image already installed... or demand they send you a quick restore CD.... if they refuse to do either of those... then ask to speak to a supervisor
-
i think i will definitely be doing that. Thank you.

then talk to the supervisor's supervisor.....
like you said... you had no SOFTWARE ISSUE till the HDD DIED..... that's not a software issue.... or more correctly it is a software issue caused by the failure of a hardware component... not due to incorrect software configuration!!!
tell them that.... see if it helps
dont know what to do!
