Unfortunately, the screen on that unit is awful.

I've got one sitting right in front of me, bought it yesterday. When I went to Comp USA to pick it up, they didn't have any on display. So, I checked out the other Acers, and as I've read elsewhere on these forums, the screens seemed a little dim on them, especially when compared to the Sonys sitting right across from it. After a couple of minutes I realized that NONE of the other brands (HP, Toshiba, etc), had screens anywhere near as bright as the Sony, and that the Acers, while still a bit dimmer than the rest, wasn't that far off.

Long story short, I took the chance, bought it, and am very happy with it. Seems plenty bright in my house, generally keep it around 75% brightness, even in brightly lit areas. Don't know if this screen is just brighter than the ones on the other Acer models, or if the bright overhead lighting in Comp USA was throwing me off. By the next time I go they'll probably have one on display, I'll compare then.

its not that Core Duo is really cheap, its just that Acer is cheaper in general.

I have the 5672WLMi, and paid a lot less compred to comparable units. its almost double the features as what my brother's ThinkPad is for the same price. but his ThinkPad is unbreakable compared to mine. not to mention u can't feel ANY heat at the touchpad even tho its been on for hours.

There IS a reason why Acers are cheaper. just know that before you commit to it. I knew it, but I still bought it.

It's only a matter of turning the brightness up, maybe the sony crew had done that to make their notebooks stand out...
