    Hi there,

I am looking for the following bios:
    Acer Aspire 5310, Intel 27A0 rev 3, 2008-12-08, v1.50
Do you have any idea where to get this, who to ask? Acer does not list it, does not respond properly and I could not find anything in the forum here.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks ;)

That is an old one from 2007-07-17. Knowing this, as posted, the date of the bios searched for was included as of 2008-12-08.
Many thanks for looking into this so quickly. Very appreciated :)

This is not an old one- BIOS 1.50 is 1.50- period. There are no two versions with the same number but different due to time-stamp.
December 2008 is when Acer overhauled its support site and all files were uploaded to new servers- that's why most old Acer notebooks have all drivers and BIOSes uploaded sometime in December 2008.
Still if you really want to find 1.50 with time-stamp from December just browse through Acer support- it can be found there

The sizes of two v1.50 I have on file are different. They also result in two different VGA Versions displayed when u start the computer. And the ReadMe spoke of certain tweaks done. A simple binary content compare found several differences.

If Acer only changes the date, they could point this out, as users', support's, or other people's time may be wasted.

Very many thanks for sending the link to a v1.50 bios dating 2008-12-08.
Why does one not find this if one goes to the acer.com site? Should the search not be comprehensive? What happens if one travels to another region and gets redirected to some local site which does not have all files listed? So many open questions...anyway.

Very many thanks for your quick help.

    Well I wasn't right- I don't like that. ;)
If there are really two versions with the same number, Acer is very unprofessional- like it would hurt them to press "6" instead of "5".

Here is what I found via the download links provided by different people/searches:

    acer aspire 5310 / 5710 bios links

    found via acer.co.uk
    http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...3=Aspire 5310&OS=V10&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_27
    v1.50
    1.59mb containing winphflash
    zip file date 2008-12-08
    wph file date 2007-07-17

    found via acer.com
    ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5310/bios/v1.50.zip
    v1.50
    2.31mb containing winphlash and dosphlash
    zip file date 2008-02-06
    wph file date 2007-07-17

wph files are binary identical in both zip files

BUT the problem is, that driver agent and bios agent point to a bios with a date of 2008-12-08 and that cannot be found/achieved with a bios of those zip files with their file dates, but with an internal date of 2008-12-08, which is however here 2007-07-17, and that is what the bios agent reads out and compares to, and then gets people to sign up for the wrong reasons
to their bios/driver update service...or people try to find that bios...but it is a phantom!

Nevertheless, a another bios with version number 1.50 is on file (that's why it is only two differing files, as the above are identical), and they have similar descriptors as
    $IBIOSI$NAPA0001.86C.0036.D.0707170906 IDNO CAPELVALJAMISONC
but a different size, different checksum, and it does display a different VGA Version on computer start. Not sure how to decide which is better!
Any help on this one very appreciated...or even better, maybe biosagent is not wrong, and there is, somewhere, a bios with release date of 2008-12-08?

As to Acer's professionalism...they ask many unnecessary questions at support, and have so far never delivered. Also, when I had a warranty case, and that with a 5 day return upgraded warranty, they did not even manage to schedule the pickup within a week, then did not pickup.
What can I say? Thanks God this wonderful forum exists ;)
