    acer aspire 5542 hangs erratically

    Hi there
    I have an Aspire 5542 NB, purchased on march this year.
    It's running Ubuntu 9.10. I use it for some development, videos, browsing, etc
    Every other time, the machine freezes. I cannot relate the hang out to some load condition. It may hang 3 times in a day, or else can run more than a week without trouble. Sometimes, I leave it working all night around downloading pictures.
    The only regularity is when it hangs, the display shows thin vertical black lines on a clear background.
    One thing I tried was to put new "feet" so the space below is higher. The freezes diminished, but still occurs.
    Because the hangs are so erratic, it's not useful to get the machine to service, they will return it to me saying "it's ok, during a week it worked ok".
    Does someone give me a tip?
