is this acer any good? http://www.acernotebooks.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_1692WLMi_LX.A6605.132/version-1.asp
on paper it looks very good to me for that price. (hope its ok for me to post that link)
I am looking to buy a laptop, my first one, but cant decide on which one. Acer seems the best value brand, aswell as maybe HP/Compaq. Ive seen and used ones from both, and liked them.
I want to be able to play games such as world of warcraft, so nothing too fancy, write up stuff for college, have wireless broadband capability, and have the laptop run generally fast, but features are most important.
That acer, seems the best i could find for my 1000-1500euro budget so far.
    Thanks

The x700 is a pretty fast card. You might want to throw in a faster hard drive which will help system performance.

Its not about the speed of the drive as it makes a minimal difference. Its about wether or not it makes a noise when in operation. Its something you'll find annoying more then the speed of it....

If you know what you are doing you can buy a system and replace the HD after... This means you can pick up an external hd enclosure and use one drive as a spare. This may or may not void your warranty.

Hard drives with a few exceptions are consider user upgradable part. It shouldn't have any affect on your warranty. Putting your old hard drive is a good idea. You can use it as a backup of your data which everyone should have.
