I have a hard drive of 500 GB on windows vista ultimate. When I installed vista on it I forgot to make 2 partitions so I made a 500 gb partition, which i don't like. I had ~80 GB used out of 500. Using vista's computer management I've managed to create a partition of ~140 GB, from the free space of the 500 GB partiton. I don't understand why it won't let me create a 350 GB partition, since there was about 400 GB free... Anyway, now I have a 300 GB partition with 100 GB used and windows vista ultimate on it and a 140 GB partition with 50 GB used. How can I make the windows partition of 150 GB and the second one from 140 into ~300 without having to reinstall windows / format ? Vista's computer management doesn't let me do this, i don't know why exactly.
    Hope you can help me..
    Thank you

Easeus Partition Manager will do the job for you: http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm

You will have to reboot and wait 10 minutes to let it finish creating/resizing (ATTENTION! DO NOT TURN OFF THE COMPUTER WHEN IT IS DOING THESE PROGRESSES) - It can screw your computer up. But don't worry, it's completely save. I used it myself :)

Uhh! And one thing more! The reason why you can't create it, is because the allocated space is BEFORE the C:/ drive. That means, if you create a new partition before the C: drive you will delete the boot-files, and then it can't boot up to windows. The solution is, to put the windows disc in the computer, and choose "repair windows".

    Enjoy.

    I succeeded, thanks alot!
I was wondering.. I have a partition named "PQSERVICE" of 10 GB, I understand some acer laptops have this. Can you tell me something about this, what is this ? Can I remove it and add the 10GB to my hard drive?

Yes you can. PQService is the recovery partition - If you screw up your computer, you can hit ALT + F10 to recover to factory settings (That means, it recovers the computer like it was new, and yeah - You get all Acers bloatware and stupid games again!). You can easily delete this partition by using same method. Unfortunately, when you have deleted the recovery partition you CAN'T get it back, and recover by ALT + F10.

Is the PQservice located before the C:/ drive? If it is, you have to use the repair disc again, because of the boot files (As I said in my previous post).

I don't recommend deleting the PQService - I have done it, and I'm glad because I got 12 GB more, but for unexperienced users who need to recover once in a while, it's a bad idea.

    Good luck! :)
