    Hi all,

i have an acer aspire 3662wlmi that has a few faults:
'Pxe- e61 media test failure, no operating system found' message appears on screen after power on,
the dvd-rw doesn't appear in 'my computer' or Device Manager,

The laptop doesn't run off battery, I recently sent it for a repair diagnosis & was told a new mobo would be required to sort; the 'bga' chip needed resoldering to the board & was done free of charge.

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

    cheers

as i understand it PXE refers to booting from the NETWORK..
go into your BIOS settings and move that option to the last choice.. unless you are trying to boot from a network drive??

as for the DVD.. is this the drive that has always been in the laptop?
if not.. has this DVD drive ever been recognized??
check the BIOS and see if it is detected by the motherboard...

does the hard drive controller show up in device manager w/o a yellow exclamation point?

    later,
    bigO
