could someone explain to me which chipset is better/faster? the intel 825-855 gme(which are used in the aspire 2000 series) or the intel 915pm(aspire 1490 series).I have read that it is easy to upgrade a 825 to 835 or 855 but can a 855gme replace a 915pm?do the 1690 series use the same motherboard with the 2000 series? Is the x600 128mb vga card better than the 9700 128mb?Does anyone know if the dvd drive is a QSI?
many thanks

the intel 915pm is intel's new flagship centrino motherboard, it supports a higher front side bus of 533mhz compared to older 400/333 configurations of the 825-855 gme.
the intel 915 also has support for the new pci express graphics cards which operate at 16x agp compared to 4x of the older graphics chipsets
the x600 is a better card all around compared to the radeon 9700 + its newer and pci express allowing for future upgrades.
as far as im aware qst is simply a manufacturer of dvdrom / dvdrw.
in short to all your questions the new intel 915pm chipset and graphics card is better however like anything new... its going to cost you more... however it will also last you longer. -
