Greetings from Heidelberg - I just received my 1410 last week and I'm absolutely thrilled with it! It runs so much faster, has better battery life and better build quality, than my HP Mini 311. I had some spare time this past weekend, so I installed another copy of Win 7 on it and it's now a dual-booter. I have re-installed most of the Acer software - but I cannot find a way to re-install the green Acer welcome screen. Does anyone know how to do that? TIA...

lite2 - Thank-you very much! I just checked the linked website - I have not seen this app before and it looks like it has a lot of potential. Suddenly - you have more reputation ... :)

PS - How do you like your 1410 - any problems?

    Thanx,
I am REAL happy with it! the performance per price is outstanding in the netbook'ish size. I get about 4/5.5hrs depending on the cpu abuse : ) And BTW, I leave Aero & wifi on, if I wanted a basic experience I could have just got an Atom.

Just a quick follow-up in the (unlikely ... ;) ) event someone else wants to change a scratch-build to the Acer background; the Acer images are stored in *\system32\oobe\Info\backgrounds\ and Mr. Manici's background changer worked like a charm - Thanks again to lite2!!

Battery bar lists around 5/6W at idle w/wifi on, 8/10 running 80%cpu on flash video.

Well for one, that's batterybar's reading, and it just depends on the moment. I've seen it dip below 5 rarely and bounce up to 7ish but "normal" just sitting there is in the 5/6 range. Had no luck in undervolting but do have 1810tray keeping the fan at bay, guess that helps out some and brightness around 40%.
Seems this thread has veered off course ; )

    Well a picture's worth........well here. batbar1.JPG

I get a spike up to 15 for about 30sec after desktop shows then meanders down. This was like 5min after boot, after windows update finished up, wifi on, fan off. By the specs, if you have the su3500, it is rated at 5.5watt where my su2300 is rated at 10watt, so you should "technically" get a lower draw under the same circumstance. You may have AV software or others updating after booting, is the HD light active? That's all I can think of for now, best of luck.

Yeah it may be background processes or services like AV, or maybe the 640GB WD Blue has very low power consumption in idle. The latter can be checked on Tomshardware.

How much battery life are you getting? (medium brightness, surfing the web)

how many processes do you have running? (press ctrl-alt-del)

    Try removing Battery bar.

It screwed up my 1810tz. I had to do a clean install to get rid of the effects.

The question is whether removing BB will get your system back to normal. In my case it did not.

you could press ctrl-alt-del to see what is eating your CPU. I've read from someone else that BB caused an unusually high Explorer.exe CPU utilization.

When I installed BB on my 1810tz battery life went from 8:00 to 4:30. I then removed BB and Windows was still saying 4:30. Then I did a clean install and it was back at 8:00.

I'm not saying you will have a similar effect but that's what happened to me. No more BB for me.

@shuhailnp, you mentioned having bit torrent running, that'll take a toll. some random cpu and regular HD activity.

Yeah good point, it will prevent your HDD to go into idle.

And you haven't told us yet how many background processes you have running. please press-ctrl-alt-del select taskmanager and look at the bottom left corner.

    That's good.

I just reread the thread, 1 watt difference is fine. Some SU2300s use more power than others, same goes for other components. Maybe some more people can post their power draw to compare.

    Thanx Phil,
"Maybe some more people can post their power draw to compare"
I had googled around before looking for comparisons but it's a pain weeding out the different makes and models to get a fair group to actually compare with.
When I got mine I didn't know what an average "normal" draw was.
And I never really put much faith in ANY runtime estimate, I just like BB for the realtime battery draw. So far it's closer to real runtime than windows estimate, windows has been as high as 8+hrs(yeah right) : )

But I'm afraid it will probably cost $200(1/2 what my 1410 cost), not to mention it probably won't fit the 1410 and most likely protrude to the rear or down killing the slimness.

I'm talkin' about a REAL oem charger, not some $10 knock off. Most places I've seen was $50+. Just as with the batteries, I trust "real oem" over "cheaper". Like I said, Proof will be when I get it.

    Edit:
OK, I got it and it just like the one mine came with, matching #'s.Tested it and all is good. I'm happy with having a good backup now that I can just keep in the bag so I can just leave the original at home, well worth $25.
