About a month ago, I’d brought an Acer Aspire 5100-5023 with Windows Vista Home Premium. I’d not able to use a wireless device. The problem is about “disconnected.” The wire device is working without error. The wireless device is able to read or monitor various networks within its range, but not able to connect to a network.

I am able to connect to network via NIC card, wired.

I’d tried my home network with no security and WEP security level. I am not able to connect with a wireless device. I’d tried a coffee house connection, no luck. I’d tried a library (free wifi), no luck.

I’d updated the wireless device (Broadcom 802.11g) drive. I had rest Winsock. I had rest NETSH. I’d rest the laptop to its factory default, no luck. I’d updated Windows Vista, no luck.

I’d tried manual set the wireless device to a network router, no luck.

I’d tried other wireless device, Netgear WG511T with Vista software and disabled the other device (Broadcom 802.11g). Guess what? Still, disconnected to a network, via wireless.

Oh yes, I’d called Acer tech support. They didn’t have an answer.

Any kind of help or insight into this issue would be very helpful.

    Thanks

    Paul :)

I have the same problem with my Aspire 5610-4648. I bought it last April 2007, everything was doing good and all of a sudden Sept 6, there was no wireless device being recognized. I did everything you did Paul, opened the laptop removed and installed the wireless hardware, reinstall the driver in which windows does not recognized it anymore and bought D-Link WNA-2330, still to no avail, only the wired network works! I'm also looking for answer of this situation. This is where I think, that I should have bought an extended warranty from Best Buy.

I don't think so last update was of August 29, and i was still able to use my wireless, i was still able to used it in the morning, not until i came back from work on that evening that it just happened, "no wireless device" not even my new wireless card with vista compatibility.
