I have upgraded my 5315 laptop to a T7300 cpu and iit s working fine. Is it possible to drop in a Q6600 quad cpu instead of the T7300 ? I have a extra cpu I would like to use. If it will not work, is there a quad cpu that will work ? I am doing video editing and would like a powerhouse cpu.

I will have after Oct 22, two license copies of Windows 7. Will Windows 7 work better with the T7300 cpu ? Could my laptop be upgraded to 4 gbs if I run Windows 7 ?

    Thanks

    1. Quad won't work in AS5315. Ever. Best you can go is T9300 or T9500. I think someone managed to make T9300 to work...check the stickys
    2. What do you mean "if W7 will work better with T7300"? Better than what? Better than Vista? Most likely. Better than Xp? Maybe. Better in video editing? I don't think so, as long as the software you use is optimized for C2D the OS doesn't imply so much, IMO of course. I'd go for W7 though.
    3. 4GB won't work. It's GL960 chipset limitation, the OS has nothing to do with it. 3GB is the best you can go.

Also, the Q6600 is a desktop CPU - it'll never fit into a notebook.

    Har har, duly noted.
But I think the Asus C90S/C90P owners are the itty-bitty minority here.
A better example would've been every crazy Clevo that had a desktop CPU shoehorned in there.
