Also P9700, T9900 and X9100. The later would run really hot.

You can't put them all in, only one at a time :p Sure whichever suits you and your budget better :)

All of the users suggest T9900, but it's rather pricey :) P9700 would run a bit cooler, but slower as well and it costs almost the same. If you modify your cooling X9100 would be of greater benefit, since you can overclock it. If you can find X9100 E0 - QHBQ (HARD to find), or SLGE7 (IMPOSSIBLE to find), they'll run as cool as T9900, and would leave you some room for overclocking.

10 characters, since this is the minimal character amount to make a post.

Hello. I have this notebook with installed X9100. It is working great without any problems. There was no need to modify BIOS, just updated it with last BIOS version, downloaded from official acer site. I have only one problem - this monster is really hot, because I made a mistake buying C0 version. You have to search E0 stepping version, as triturbo said.

Talking about T9900 and X9100 - both of them have high prices (identical to each other). Yes, T9900 allocates less heat, but with X9100 E0 stepping version you gain also not so much heat and unlocked multiplier. So, in the case of necessity of greater CPU performance, you can overclock your CPU just using throttlestop program.

    "•Intel® Core™2 Duo processor T9600 (6 MB L2 cache, 2.80 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 35 W), supporting Intel® 64 architecture"

Only using PLL method, as I know. This processor, as other C2D mobile (except Core 2 Extreme mobile processors) processor, has locked multiplier.

Not at all. Only demanding games needs more than 4 Gb. For i-net surfing 4Gb is enough. I`ve installed 8Gb of RAM because I use my notebook at working place sometimes. Programs, that I`m using, demands large amount of RAM. Sometimes, for example, my CAD program "eats" almost 7Gb. :)
