Just ordered myself a nice new 8204, seems to be the only dual core to get right now (at least in my book) given the not 17" screen (way too large) but also decent graphics card, decent processor (I would have gone for a W3J if the processor had been the 2ghz one, but at 1.66Ghz it's just a bit too low for my tastes).

We'll see how long it takes to get it, website said 1-3 days for shipping so... we'll see how long it takes to ship.

Whee... can't wait! Looking forward to being able to edit my video a tad quicker than I was...

CDW, I get a work discount and actually the price wasn't too bad anyway, price was 2399 starting (and then work discount on top).

Well it's 3lbs lighter than my current BEAST of a laptop, and probably way faster (2.5ghz P4 vs 2ghz Dual Core. hmmmm )

So definately looking forward to playing around with it!

Not that the T2300 is too slow (I assume that is the 1.66Ghz varient) more that I like to be close to the bleeding edge when I pay for a laptop so that it lasts as long as possible (generally I find that after 3 years it's still in need of replacement because some of the stuff I do is no longer running).

Oh, and YAY, it's in Vegas, scheduled for Delivery tomorrow... WHEEEE!!! Must be home when they attempt to deliver!!!

    I'm not, it's not here yet :(

Unfortunately what was in Vegas was the extended warrenty (LMAO) so I now have the extended Warrenty but no laptop yet, should be shipping Wednesday I'm told... we'll see once it arrives, looking forward to playing around with Vegas (the video software, not the town) when it arrives, that program seems to kill my current machine quite bad so... we'll see... *fidgets more*

I've been evaluating a 5672 before committing to the 8204, and I can say: Core Duo makes video tasks much more comfortable. I was transcoding a video yesterday for burning to DVD, and could comfortably use the system for other tasks.

And, the 5672 only has the T2300... I'm waiting pretty impatiently as well for the T2500... And, just as much, for ATI to release their software to speed up encoding/transcoding with the X1000 GPU's.
