This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Webcam crashes

    I couldn't edit my previous post so I guess I have to write a new one due to circumstances changing. I used the hardware vendor detection utility to determine which driver was appropriate for my Acer 8943g x64. It turned out it was a Suyin so I installed it from the website at Acer support and it works when I tried it on Skype, but when I click the shortcut in the start menu it crashes the minute I open it or it just sits with a black screen until I try to click a setting and then it crashes. Strange that it would work with Skype but not with it's standalone shortcut. If you have any ideas please let me know.
