    Hyia all

Well my 9504 came today and i was well impressed till i realised how narrow the keyboard keys were and the dead pixel.

What i really cant understand is, why when i try and run a game (World of Warcraft, Sims etc) do i get this awful rattle noise coming from the base of the laptop towards the right? It doesnt stop when you press the back...its nice and silent in windows yet when i try and run a game this rattle starts and it slowly drives you nutty

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've upgraded drivers incase but should have known they wouldnt work....would be grateful for any help!

Well there are a couple of things it could be...I am not fimiliar with the 9500, but it could be your harddrive...that is the only thing that comes to mind at the moment.

Sounds like the fan is causing the noise. Makes sense, because in general Windows, the processor is hardly doing anything, so there isn't much heat produced.

Perhaps you could open the notebook up and see if the fan is loose or not?

Well the noise is coming from an area that is sealed..between the bluetooth/wireless area and the processor area. ONLY in 3d games :(

How do you remove the keyboard as well?

I can see this going back monday....and half the keys on the keyboard you have to hit hard to work!!

Hi, you should really be contacting the supplier of your notebook and not messing with it. If you are not happy with it then you've a right to have it exchanged....

Could it be the GPU fan?

I have Aspire 5021WLMi and I too can hear some weird noise coming from back of my computer (right side). It´s only audible when playing 3d-games or running 3DMark...I haven´t send my laptop to service yet..

My previous Hp Pavilion notebook had just the same problem and the cause was faulty powersupply. Hp send me new one and weird noise was gone...The faulty powersupply didn´t heat up or anything like that, only motherboard power components were making the noise. Weird...

The 80gb harddrive came with the laptop and model is Seagate ST9808210A. There´s mistake in signature, the drive is 4200rpm and quite slow. I have upgraded ram my self, because 5021 support also 400MHz ddr. Now I have 2*512mb Kingston KVR400X64SC3A/512, price was 114€ here in Finland (I dont know where they sell these in Ireland, maybe some webshop?).
There is noticeable difference in speed when you upgrade from 512MB to 1024Mb, particularly in games when you have slow hardrive.

Cheers for the reply Krisse it's nice to know i can go to 400MHz ddr! any overall improvement that you've noticed over the 333MHz memory you had before aside from the obvious boost you got going up to 1GB? By the way when i upgrade to a faster hard drive which will probably be an 80GB 5400rpm i'll have a 100GB for sale if your interested unless you intend to do the same of course!.

Your welcome :) I´m not planning to buy new harddrive because faster hd:s are quite expensive... Of course it would improve overall performance quite a lot (especially with memory upgrade).
