    Hey Gang,

I recently bought an Aspire 3680-2022 and I want to upgrade the memory. I'm buying 2 gigs of ram to install but I can't figure out how to install it. Can you guide me, please? I went on the Acer site and couldn't fing a manual on how to install it! Thanks!

Your Acer manual will have the locations of the RAM slots. It may be that one stick is located underneath the keyboard. Simply pop out the RAM by pushing the snap connectors to the side, and the stick will pop out. Replace the old stick with the new one of your MB choice. Boot up your machine, and you should see the new RAM quantity in your BIOS menu or post screen.

So where are the memory slots located? Both on the underside of the laptop or one on the underside and one under the keyboard? Take a look at this picture of a Acer 5672 (from the Beginners guide to thermal compound replacement on the 5672wlmi) with its back cover taken off. You can see the two memory modules. You access them by removing the screws and then removing the cover. The cover may have a tab or two, so you may might need a small straight blade screwdriver to help pry it open.

If you have one memory slot under the keyboard, then you must lift up the keyboard to access it. There is a panel above the keyboard that is usually held in place by a series of tabs. You will need to pry it up. Starting from one corner, gently lift it until you can remove the entire panel. If it seems overly difficult, look around the LCD hinges for screws, some laptops have them. You should find that the keyboard is held in place by 2 - 3 screws at the top, remove these screws, lift the keyboard, being careful of the ribbon connector and you should see the second memory slot.

Hi. The manual is very clear on how to upgrade the memory on the 3680-2022. I just did mine.

Turn the notebook upside down. The largest door in the center is for mobo access. Unscrew the top 2 Phillips screws, the door is latched shut with snaps on on 3 corners. Carefully pry the door open with a flat head screwdriver, working your way sideways. You could also snap the door open with a good pull, but on examining these snaps, they are made of plastic and you could break them ... then the door wouldn't be so snug fit in the future.

The SODIMM memory slot is easy access, and in the base unit it comes with one DDR2 512M module.
