    hi all

firstly i dont really know what i'm doing with computers

i want to upgrade my 5920g-302G16M

currently i have 2gb of RAM, and i want 4GB (if possible) as i find when ever i play games, its really starting to struggle

so really the help i need is,

    what RAM do i get?

is it actually possible to have 4gb of RAM in this comp recognised?

i will note that i will probably get some expert tech ppl to fit any upgrade cos i dont want to risk breaking my laptop - but i know that if i go in there they will sell me what ever they have - and it will cost me alot more than if i buy on the net first.

    i'm UK customer btw.

    ok thanks for any help

You can install 4GB RAM. No problem.

I guess you have Vista 32-bit. Right ?
With Vista 32, only 3-3.5GB will be addressed by the OS.

If you install Vista 64-bit, then Vista will address the whole 4GB. So, if it is Vista 32-bit, go for 3GB, i.e. replace a single 1GB module with a 2GB module.

    Buy from Crucial BTW. :p

    RAM type is DDR2 PC2-5300 200 pin.
No need for expert technicians to install RAM though.

ok if you are gaming go for the dual channel setup means get a kit with the same kind of module same speed and memory count; u can get pc2-5400 or pc2-5300 basically no difference between the two is just that some manufactures lable their modules diferently by the way they test the module pc2-5300 its tested at 667mhz while pc2-5400 at 675mhz but other than that there`s no difirence just make sure you use dual channel

oh and for the vista the 64bit and 32bit there`s no much of a difference unless is winxp where you can see a really big difference in performance but remenber that this is because of the drivers in winxp they been tweaked and tuned for years to get the results that we have now vista drivers are farelly new and dont have all the support that xp had all this years but in the future vista drivers will be tweaked and tuned and we will get better results than what we have now with xp so dont just get rid off vista yet
