Refer to a service manual for instructions- it contains step-by-step assembly/disassembly guide with pictures.
It can't be shared here but it can be found elsewhere on the net.

Is it the metal plates on top of the CPU and GPU that provides the temperatures?

Because im looking at them since last night and theyve been at a constant temperature which makes me think something is wrong?

GPU is constantly at 49 and the two cores at 46 and 52.

Sorry for the possibly dumb question, but where can you get the service manual?

EDIT: Nevermind, a little searching after posting yielded this: http://blog.screenaid.com/2010/08/24/acer-aspire-4820tg-disassembly/
    Thanks anyways :)

On second thought... ive placed an icepack on laptop and the GPU temp goes down but the CPU temp remains constant.. before i got temps around 30 - 40 and now its constant on 50. can it be to do with the way i assembled the laptop?

Ok so i updated the bios.. and it was working fine but i opened up the laptop again to fix this heating problem and now my laptop monitor isnt working.
It isnt even being detected by the computer.. using an external monitor and when i go to select display it only gives 1 option - the externam monitor.

any ideas on how to fix this
