I will buy TM4501 tommorow. My local seller has an option +40 Euro for "No dead pixel" warranty.
Please give me some advice is it worth the money. What is the chance of getting an unit with dead pixel(s) ?
Your help and experience will be of great value for me.

There's always the possibility that a notebook will have a dead pixel. Acer's policy on dead pixels is that, if you divide the LCD into 9 equal squares, the middle square will not have more than 1 dead pixel or a total of 6 (possibly more) dead pixels throughout the LCD. If you're LCD doesn't fall into this requirement, they will not replace it for you. Having a "no dead pixel" policy is good, but I don't know if it's worth +40 Euros. From what I've read here, the users that have bought the 4501 have not seen any dead pixels yet. Personally, I wouldn't pay the extra, but I would buy it from a shop that has an exchange/return policy. This way you're covered without paying the extra.

Thanks Venombite. This was just what I want. I get mine today. It is great mashine. I didn't pay 40 euros more and found that my worries were baseless. Display is flawless and invoked a happy smile on my face when I saw Total Commander(my favorite file manager) on the wide screen.

    Hey Man,

Congratulations on your new notebook. [ :D] There's usually nothing to worry regarding dead pixels when buying a notebook. It doesn't happen all that much, but does occasionally happen. I don't think I've heard of anybody on this site with one of the newer Acer notebooks that came with any dead pixels.

I just got a 4501wlmi, unfortunately, I got one dead pixel in the central area of the nine blocks (though it's not very visible unless you look really up close). Will I be able to replace the screen with Acer? Any suggestion of what should I do?! [B)]

Is it completely dead or is it just discolored? You may want to try rubbing your finger over that pixel and see if it comes back to life (could just be loose). DON'T PRESS TOO HARD!!! You might carck the LCD and you'll never get it replaced. If it doesn't come back, try contacting Acer and see if they'll replace it. Their policy was no more than 1 on the middle, they may nitpick and say that there's only 1 which is within their specs. Good luck!
