    Ripping a CD with iTunes, I get a speed of 4 - 5x - totally pathetic.

My old Pentium M easily got 15x up to 20x.

I am ripping to MP3 with "high quality" settings - 192 Kbps.

What speeds do you get on the TM8204? I want to get to the bottom of this - I am convinced that there's driver or something wrong with my machine as a 24x drive + a 2GHz processor should really just fly through this.

It's that Itunes virus you installed...

Seriously though I'll let you know what speed mine rips at when I get home and can rip a CD (tonight/tomorrow)

    tried it?

btw my previous ripping speed was measured with iTunes as well. I know it's no speed demon on Windows but it works well enough...
