I have an Aspire 6920G, and people on this forum recently recommended I get a T9500 as the processor upgrade with "the best" performance. I just want to confirm, before I make the purchase, that this processor is indeed the fastest 1 I can get for my laptop, and that my laptop can actually handle it (FSB, mobo, heat, etc.). I'd rather not waste $350. Thanks!

System supports 667MHz Unbuffered Non-ECC DDR2 SDRAM 200-Pin SODIMM memory. For best performance memory must be purchased and installed in pairs for Dual Channel mode. Note: * If 4GB is installed, the recognized memory may be reduced to 3.5GB or less depending on system configuration (operating system) and memory allocation.

Chipset maxes out at 667MHz FSB - it will downclock any faster memory and multiply it to reach that FSB.

The T9500 will be just fine. The X9000 is the best your laptop can take, but TDP is higher than the T9500, and only 0.2GHz faster.
There are users who have upgraded to the T9300, so the T9500 shouldn't be a problem at all. If you BIOS is quite old, update it to the latest version. -
The T9500 should be a successful upgrade without any problems, and is indeed the fastest you can get for your system without getting the Extreme X9000 (2.8 GHz, but a higher TDP that the 6920G may not be able to handle). -
Would a T9300 be a better bang for the buck?
-
Definitely - you're not going to miss the 100 MHz extra clock speed if you're saving $50-100.

Apparently my warranty ill be voided if I do an upgrade ... Even if I get Future Shop to do it.
-
Not it won't be, if you keep all the stock modules with you, i.e. Don't sell the T5750....Reinstall it when sending it in for service.

Yeah, that's a different answer than what I got when I called Acer Support myself.
T9500 in an Aspire 6920G?
