    hi all,

    recently got an Aspire 5563.

Have done a complete clean install with XP PRo SP2. Added all the latest drivers from Acer site, plus launchmanager (but not Empower utils). The only variation is that I have used the latest version of the Omega ATI drivers for video. Running latest 1.17 bios.

I have updated with all critical updates and a few other minor items.

Notebook performs great in every regard accept for one. If I allow it to suspend, when I try to wake by pressing a key, the power light comes on, but nothing else happens (notebook seems frozen). Hibernate works perfectly, so its only standby that kills it.

This was my 2nd clean install, with the only major difference being the use of Omega drivers. I could revert back to older Acer supplied ATI drivers but would prefer not to.

Have searched the forum for same problem ... came up with a few similar but none seemed to be the same.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

    thanks

Revert back to the Acer supplied ATi drivers, if that solves the problem, then the problem lies with the newer drivers.

    thanks for the response.

That was always plan B, but was hoping to avoid going back.

Anyway, for the benefit of those reading, I reverted the drivers supplied on the install CD and my standby issue was resolved.
