My Travelmate 8200 is about 6 months old and the startup times are getting quite long. Seven minutes is usually the average. I tried winconfig and took off a lot of programs, but it still takes forever. Any ideas?

When you start your laptop, how many processes are running at startup? (Ctrl-Alt-Del to find out)

Have you tried running a virusscan, Adaware or Spybot scan?

I've run those on computers at work and they've run several times faster.

63?? Dear me thats a hell of a lot. I have 29 running here on startup

Get yourself a copy of Spybot, to check for any adware/spyware/malware that might be running in the background.

Then get a copy of TweakUtil Reg Cleaner, and run that to tidy up your registry entries.

Are you still using all the Acer crapware that comes bundled with the laptop?
