    Hi JBN.
I've had the same issue on occasion, with Acer Arcade booting instead of Windows Vista. Whenever it did, though, I made sure to hold down the power button while Arcade was loading to shut it off. You see, when you click Exit in Arcade, it actually sends Windows XP into hibernation, not completely off.
I would contact the technical support department in your area first and foremost. Acer Spain can be reached here.
    Hope that was helpful!

Thank you very much for you response Tehsuigi. I know where´s the problem (i think). Ive read you have an acer 6920. I ve experimented one thing; when the "hold" botton of the CineDash Media Console is activated boot sometimes the acer deluxe. When is desactivated not boot. Try it.

Come to think about it, that makes a lot of sense!
I'll try leaving the HOLD button off when shutting down and see if that helps.
    Thanks!

Well, since my LAST restore to factory default two days ago, no issues since.
And as a result, my System Restore points are still there (WinXP deletes Vista restore points when it boots).

I have the same issue, problem is I cannot boot into Vista. So it loops between hibernating and will always boot into the Acer Arcade Deluxe.

Tech Support say it can be a corrupt file (and on the laptop less than a week old that's pretty unimpressive) and that a factory reset is my solution.

Once I can get into Windows I hope there is a way I can stop Acer Arcade from booting at all. I'm still waiting for them to SMS me the instructions to reset. What I find most annoying is the way it prevents me from even entering Safe Mode, it seems to defeat the purpose of such a feature.

I'm getting sick of this "feature"!! It's the most annoying thing I have seen on my laptop. The first time it started Acer Arcade Deluxe, and I shut it down, I didn't get any chance to boot the laptop again. Even after battery removal, it still wouldn't boot, so a reinstallation was the only solution. Now, when Acer Arcade Deluxe decides to start up (still haven't found uot why, but the suggestions here is worth a try, even though I think it is a stupid feature), I hold down the power-button to shut it down, and then I can start again and boot Vista. Very annoying!! I don't dare start Acer Arcade Deluxe up, because i'm afraid that I then will need to reinstall Vista once more. Can the 10 G and the 3 GB partitions be deleted, so Acer Arcade Deluxe won't start anymore? I have made my recovery DVD's, so I don't think I need the recovery partition, do I?

Keep the recovery partition - it allows you to use the Disk-to-Disk recovery function, should you lose your recovery DVDs.
The Arcade partition should be safe to removable, though. Nuke it using Acronis or a GParted LiveCD/USB.

Or, do what I did - do a clean install. This rewrites the MBR (Master Boot Record) and disables the Arcade Instant-On function, even if you don't delete the partition.
Now, if I press the Arcade button, it just boots into Vista.

Had the same problem. Then i called acer support, and he told me to open the msconfig by writing "msconfig" in the search, and then click on the tab "start". Then switch off the "acer arcade" by clicking the "check button" off.

It doesnt do it anymore now :)

hope it helps, and sry for my bad english

TehSuigi, could you explain how you did to rewrite the MBR with a clean install and how you disabled the instant-on function? Thx

Bloodkh, I simply installed Vista Ultimate using the installation disc over my previous Vista installation, formatting the C: partition in the process (my previous install had become corrupted).
By my understanding, the setup program replaces the MBR with a default Microsoft one, which means that the Acer Instant-On function simply isn't recognized any more. Once that was done, I just deleted the partition using GParted.

Whenever my 8920 started up in Acer Deluxe, I just hold down the powerbutton until the laptop looses power. When I start it again, it boots normally.

I have now deleted the two hidden partitions using Easeus Partition Manager and Paragon Partition Manager, so now I have no problems whatever!

HI! I have been having the same problems, with my new 6920 booting Arcade Deluxe, then hibernating over and over. I just had a few questions about deleting the partition so I don't ruin my laptop forever.. :)

I looked in command prompt then diskpart and i see that my hard drive has 4 partitions. I don't know which one to delete. They are as follows:

    partition # type size offset
    1 OEM 12GB 1024 KB
    2 Primary 111 GB 12 GB
    3 Primary 106 GB 123 GB
    4 OEM 3628 MB 229 GB

Im guessing it's either 1 or 4 that I will delete???
Also to tried to solve the problem I had uninstalled arcade deluxe.
I read that the partition to delete will be +/- 3GB, but I don't really see any close to that.

also, partition 1 is type 27. partition 4 is type 12.

and i also read that one would be the recovery partition. i already made my recovery cds. should i just delete both?

    somebody please please
    PLEASE HELP ME!!!

    Hi steph6920!

I deleted both partitions. If my system crashes, I will simply install a clean Vista, and avoiding all the crap Acer inatalls with the system.

It's the OEM partitions you need to delete. Can't remember if Arcade Deluxe is on the first or the last, but I guess that it's the sallest of the two.

I will advise you to have a spare 2.5" disk and a usb-harddrive case which you clone your harddrive to. If something fails (it did that for me the first time), then you can swap harddrives, and recreate your sytem and try again :)

There can be a problem with Vista not knowing which disk to boot from when you've deleted the first partition, but a repair with a Vista install DVD should fix this.

As you can see, it isn't an easy task, so be shure that you have cloned your harddrive before you start, unless you are planning to re-install the system from backup.

Good luck, and please tell us how it went :)

Partition 1 is the recovery partition, 2 and 3 are C: and D: respectively, and 4 the Acer Arcade partition.
If Arcade keeps hibernating over and over again, don't use the Exit button. Hold down the power button until the system shuts down.

Thanks, I deleted the 4th partition, and now i have no problems with arcade deluxe...but my computer won't shut off!! If I hit the power button or shut down from the start menu, it powers off for a second and comes right back on again. So to stop it I set it to shut down when I close the lid, but it still keeps restarting and restarting (i can hear the sounds every few seconds, when it turns off then back on). And if I hold down the power button, it goes off but switches right back on when I take my finger off. Please help!!

Hey guys just purchased an Acer Aspire 6930.

Exact same problem as you guys. I was just wondering which program you guys recommend I should download to delete that 4th partition.. And once I do delete that fourth partition will it keep turning back on like Steph?

Hey so I downloaded EASEUS PARTITION MANAGER..

Do I just hit delete on that 3.48GB partition and that will end all of my problems? I have backed up the default factory settings to DVD. Just need some advice here!

    Welcome to the forums, Reyazyahya!
I wouldn't delete the partition outright - as the posts above you showed, it seems to cause some serious issues in stability and shutting down.
I would just avoid turning the system off with the HOLD button on and holding the power button to exit out of Acer Arcade Instant-On when it does boot up.

Of course, you can always do a clean install of Vista to get rid of Acer's customized Master Boot Record and safely delete that 4th partition.

Oh, and for future reference, please refrain from bumping old topics. This thread hasn't been used in eight months! In the future, just post a new topic if it's that old.

Oops I thought I should just revive the old topic!!! :( Sorry dude

Ok so on my laptop there is no HOLD button, nor is there a HOLD light.. Maybe I just cannot see it.. (Acer Aspire 6930)

And to clarify by clean install would i have to "purchase" a copy of windows vista and install it or do I just use the recovery disks? (Sorry I'm a noob)

P.S. TehSuigi, you are literally the only person on the internet who has any type of grasp on what the heck is going on with this "feature".. Thanks alot for helping!

Oh right, you've got the 6930! That doesn't come with the CineDash (my mistake).
By clean install, I mean acquiring a retail Vista DVD from your favourite less-than-legal download sites, and using the license key on the bottom of your system to install a clean version of Windows Vista. This will have the added bonus of clearing out a lot of the cruft Acer installs on your system before it leaves the factory, but it means that you'll need to install a good chunk of your device drivers again.

This reinstallation will overwrite the customized boot system that Acer has put on your 6930, removing the Acer Arcade Instant-On boot trigger. Once that's done (or even during the installation of Vista), you can delete the Arcade partition.

Since you already have the Acer recovery DVDs in case things go wrong, my only further recommendation is to backup your data, and be sure to stick around here on NBR-Acer. There's a lot to learn.
