    I have an Aspire 5742 with an M450 i5 running W7 sp1
There is a strange problem as everyone I speak to on Skype tells me that they hear a noise which seems to get worse as the call progresses.
I put this down to the quality of connection as I am mainly working in Africa.
I loaded up an old Samsung netbook recently with Skype just to check and the sound quality was infinitely better - no noises, so it is not the connection.
Has anyone else experienced this ?
    Is there a solution ?

I have reinstalled Skype from sscratch adn this does not seem to make any difference.

If you don't have them on, try using ACER original audio drivers from acer's official website :)

I would (also) test Realtek's most recent drivers and I'd check if noise cancellation is enabled in Realtek Audio Manager.

NOTE: I assume your notebook uses Realtek audio chip as most do but I haven't actually checked that.
