Strange problem. My S-Video works fine when I'm running on batteries. But as soon as I plug in the power transparent bands (imagine the rings of Saturn) cover 50% of my screen. When the laptop is actually on they slowly scroll up.

I'm afraid that there isn't a software fix for it; When I power off and leave the S-Video and power plugged in, the bands are there just stationary now. As soon as I unplug the power, perfect black screen.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I was really looking forward to using S-Video for so many things. :(

try it in safe mode and see if it's any different.

but chances are it's an interference issue. you may be able to solve it with a super high quality s-video cable that has better shielding.

    just an idea...

This is going to sound strange, but after I upgraded to Vista Ultimate the problem is gone.
