I want to format the drives on my Acer Aspire 3003 WLMI.I just loss sound(Realtek) on it and I guess there's a few more bugs on it too.
The laptop came with 4 CDs.One is Disk 1 the other are disk 1 of 3,disk 2 of 3 and disk 3 of 3.The Disk 1 seems to be what they call the system CD and it came with instructions. They say:"press F2 while Acer appears on the screen when booting it up then chose boot then choose CD-ROM then insert the Disk 1 then press ESC and then exit. From there, you get what's on the CD and they say:choose the item on the the left list.First, there's Windows XP listed there alone so I thought...good.Click on it and then more choices appear(drivers, utilities, applications). So,I click on driver...more choices(CPU,Modem,LAN,you name it).For some like CPU,there's tons of instructions like...you should click on "control panel" then click on "classic view" and then double click on "system"...when I do that(double click on "system")I get an error message that it couldn't be done and that I can send a report.
For the whole thing they say,do the system CD first then do the multiple recovery CDs.I did try the recover CDs and all I get are files that when I click on them,I get the message Windows can't open them.
I doubt that Windows XP is on any of the 4 CDs provided(I may be wrong). When you format your drives you have to reupload Windows...right?Any suggestions how to format my drives and then put back Windows XP (PRO) on it?Thanks!

Is that laptop still with the OS in it ?
If yes .... use the ACER windows utilities to start the recovery , from the hidden files in the laptop .
If you have any NTFS partition on the laptop , make then back to FAT 32.
The CDs are good only if you have a new empty hard drive.
There is no XP OS on this CDs , its special files , that gets copied by special software on the hard drive. -
Yep! The OS is still in it.
