How cane I reinstall Vista on my Aspire 9410z. Due to a broken harddisc i have to reinstall the complet system, but i don't have a physical dvd with Windows Vista. When i buy the notebook Vista was like allways pre-installed. At the end of the custom install, i was make like the procedure presented me some (2) backup dvd. On the first DVD i see a iso file STCDBOOT.iso and the files, WinNT.Sif, Rcd.Dat, Scd.dat and some maps like Acer, I386, Images and Patch. On the second dvd i have a files Rcd2.dat and the map Images. But i don't know how to recover from this backup.
Further i have a Windows Anytime Upgrade dvd from Acer (Part No. CD.VUT01.045) But someone of the tech.support of the computerstore where i was buy the notebook tells me that this dvd is not a complet Vista and that it can't be registered.

I hope that I was clear enough, so that someone can help me
    Best regards, Vic

    Hi,

seems as if you have two options:
With the set of recovery discs: Boot from the first disc and follow the instructions. Along with disc#2, the factory installation will be restored.

The Anytime Upgrade DVD is said to be a full install disc, allowing you to perform a clean install without all the trials and bloatware. You need to download the drivers for your laptop from Acer support website to get your laptop fully functional. Also, you need to activate Windows via phone since MS disabled online activation for OEM keys. Make sure the sticker with the key on tha back of your laptop is readable.

    First thx for this reply

Cane you tell how to boot from the recovery disc, because I don't know why, but i can't boot from one of the recovery discs.

Concerning the anytime upgrade dvd, when i install this on a non formated disc as language only Englisch can be selected. If the install is done and vista is completed. When i insert then again the dvd a new upgrade posibility start via the autorun. And strangely then orther languages can be selected. When i select for example dutch, again vista is installed, and the windows map of the first install is named as windows.old. Is this to your opinion normal, or do i something wrong?
