I have two sticks of 512 in my machine but only 768 is showing up in the properties. It seems that one is only a 256 but it says 512mb on both sticks. Anyone have any suggestions as to what may be going on here?

If you have an Integrated shared graphics from the motherboard, that is probably where the memory is going. (reserved for the graphics)

You have integrated graphics so it is taking(reserving) 256mb from your overall memory.

    Thus 1024mb(1Gb) - 256mb= 768mb :)

What you can do to increase the memory available to windows is to go into the bios and reduce the amount of memory reserved for your graphics from 256mb to 128mb. I say this because integrated graphics processors are not powerful enough to need more than 128mb of memory.

Thanks, that did the trick. Went to BIOS settings and it was set to use 256mb. I lowered it down to as much as 64mb and everything still runs smooth. Will leave it there as long as it doesn't give me any grief. Thanks.
